Custom motorcycles dazzling under neon lights. The sound of thunder mixed with the ringing of slot machines. These are some of the interesting sights and sounds that arise when you have a motorcycle rally in Las Vegas.

Soak in that atmosphere at the 17th annual Las Vegas BikeFest, to be held Oct. 5–8.  It’s one of the stops on the 2017 AMA Gypsy Tour.

The Entertainment Capital of the World

Las Vegas claims the title as The Entertainment Capital of the World, and any visit to this city will offer you more to see and do than time will allow. The Las Vegas BikeFest is a motorcycle rally created in the same spirit. It’s a big, flashy show. Here are some of the events and attractions:

  • Rev It Up kickoff party
  • Uncle Kracker concert
  • Hot Bike FXR/Dyna show
  • Quick Throttle custom bike show
  • Biker bingo
  • Best facial hair contest
  • Best tattoo contest
  • Bikini contest
  • Three motorcycle giveaways
  • More than $100,000 in cash and prizes
  • Miss Las Vegas BikeFest contest
  • Las Vegas Motorcycle Hall of Fame
  • Poker runs
  • Poker walks
  • Vendors

More than what happens in Vegas

You can park your motorcycle and walk to most of the attractions in town at the rally. Or you can take a shuttle, which might be a great option for at night. However, when the sun rises, consider how close you are to some great riding.

The nearby Hoover Dam and Lake Mead National Recreation Area are just one of many day trips to consider. The city sits in a basin of the Mojave Desert, and is surrounded by mountains. This offers the opportunity to ride from the desert floor up to mountain peaks. So be prepared—carry water, sunscreen, and extra layers of gear. Then seek adventures you can tell the folks at home about.
