A rally for women riders to support a good cause

Bike Helmet
A unique motorcycle rally celebrates its 25th year. The idea for the annual Mid-Atlantic Women’s Motorcycle Rally (MAWMR) came to Nancy Warren back in 1993, while riding her motorcycle—a time when few women drove their own bikes. She wanted to create a community where women motorcycle riders could share their adventures and stories of riding. Today, women riders are the fastest-growing segment of the motorcycling community.

An idea realized

That first MAWMR started a tradition of women riders gathering to share fun, laughter, and do something more—raise money to support women with breast cancer. Today, the rally is larger than ever and its mission has expanded to assist all women facing the challenge of any type of cancer. The rally focuses on two organizations:

Rally fun

This year, the rally is located in historic Front Royal, Virginia, near the northern end of the famous Skyline Drive and the Shenandoah Valley. You’ll find many great riding opportunities in this region. Organizers have also set up plenty of activities at rally headquarters. Here’s a look at just some of them:

  • Motorcycle light show
  • Parade of chrome
  • People’s choice bike show
  • Mountain ride
  • Breakfast, lunch, and dinner rides
  • Biker bingo
  • MAWMR party
  • Blessing of the bikes
  • Various workshops
  • Closing banquet
