This 150-mile route wraps around the Flaming Gorge Reservoir in northeastern Utah and southwestern Wyoming, tracing the edge of the Uinta Mountains—a rugged, alpine range known for its dramatic cliffs, switchbacks, and ancient exposed rock. The gorge gets its name from the red canyon walls that seem to catch fire in the sun—giving this ride its color and character.

Tips for a safe motorcycle ride

This loop is rider-friendly, but every scenic ride comes with its own set of safety considerations:

  • Watch for common regional wildlife like moose, pronghorn antelope, mule deer, wild horses, and falcons.

  • Bring extra water to stay hydrated during summer months when the dry heat is most impactful.

  • Ride smart through switchbacks—most are wide, but always take curves with caution.

  • Top off your gas tank when you can—fuel options between towns are limited.
